This Treaty of Paris marked the end of British rule.
War was in full swing in September 1781. The Battle of Yorktown was happening in Virginia. The British had gotten themselves surrounded on land by the Americans and by sea by the French. British forces split up. With no other option, the British surrendered. This brought the fighting during the American Revolution to a close.
Now it was onto the negotiating. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and John Jay were sent to Paris to negotiate. Dave Hartley represented England. The Treaty of Paris ended fighting formally. It also formally recognized the United States of America as an independent nation. The States were given all the land from the Atlantic to the Pacific between Canada and Mexico.
I picked this event because this was when the States truly became a nation of their own.
